The basic rod. Good for getting started, but you'll want to upgrade to the Raptorian Rod as soon as possible.
Use a fishing rod on any water tile. The '''Raptorian Rod''' has higher catch rates and unlocks creatures marked "Raptorian" in the Rod column.

Fishing

Fishing in Adventures of Raptor is a full progression system — not just a skill grind. Cast your rod into water or plunge a spear into lava and you'll hook increasingly dangerous sea creatures that fight back, drop loot, and earn you Fishing Commendations. Higher fishing skill and player level unlock rarer catches, and Fishing Scrolls boost your odds even further.

Rods: Regular · Raptorian · Lava Spear

Catch types: Water · Lava · Scroll-Exclusive

Rewards: Commendations · Wilfred's Shop

Commands: !fishinfo · !commendations

Fishing Rods

Icon Rod Rarity Rod Type Fishes In Source
Regular Fishing Rod Common Water Water tiles Starting gear
Raptorian Fishing Rod Legendary Water (upgraded) Water tiles Dell (Raptor Coins)
Heat Resistant Spear Legendary Lava Lava tiles Dell (Raptor Coins)
  • The Regular Rod catches fewer creature types and has lower catch rates than the Raptorian Rod.
  • The Raptorian Rod unlocks additional creatures (Mature Blood Crab, Ophion, The Lurker, Aquafilus) and has significantly better catch rates across the board. It is the recommended rod for serious fishing.
  • The Heat Resistant Spear is required for lava fishing — water rods do not work on lava tiles.
  • All rods are infinite use (no worms required).

Fishing Scrolls

Fishing Scrolls temporarily boost your catch rate. Only one scroll can be active at a time. Scrolls also unlock access to scroll-exclusive creatures that cannot be caught without an active scroll.

Scroll Duration Catch Boost Boost Multiplier
Fishing Scroll (4-Hour) 4 hours +50% 1.5×
Fishing Scroll (10-Minute) 10 minutes +80% 1.8×
  • The boost multiplies the base catch chance of every creature.
  • Higher fishing skill further increases your catch rate on top of the scroll bonus.

How Catch Chance Works

Every cast, the game rolls a random number and checks it against each creature's base chance, modified by two factors:

  • Scroll Boost
  • Skill Modifier

Creatures are checked from rarest to most common. You must meet both the minimum level and minimum fishing skill for a creature to appear. Use !fishinfo in-game to see your current skill, catch multiplier, and progress to next level.

Water Fishing

Use a fishing rod on any water tile. The Raptorian Rod has higher catch rates and unlocks creatures marked "Raptorian" in the Rod column.

Giant Squid requires level 2,000 / skill 115 with the Regular Rod, or level 2,500 / skill 118 with the Raptorian Rod.

Lava Fishing

Requires the Heat Resistant Spear and a lava tile. Lava creatures tend to be tougher and rarer than their water counterparts at similar level thresholds.

Scroll-Exclusive Catches

Commendation System

Every fishing creature you kill awards Fishing Commendations. The harder the creature, the more you earn. Commendations serve two purposes: your lifetime total determines your rank, and your spendable balance can be traded at Wilfred's shop for exclusive rewards.

Note: Rank progress (lifetime total) is only awarded to the player who fished the creature. Spendable commendations are awarded to whoever lands the kill.

Track your progress with !commendations.

Rank Commendations Required

Apprentice 25
Seasoned 100

Master 1,000

Milestone broadcasts are sent server-wide when a player reaches 100, 500, 1,000, and 5,000 lifetime commendations.

Wilfred — Fishing Guild NPC
